Can anyone tell me what questions will most likely be asked for this role

The Trust I work in would not have band 3 supervising others. You'd be band 4 minimum. Most likely 5.

Hmm as pp says band 3 not usually supervising - check the job description as the questions should be based on the duties. You may be supervising a small number of band 2 staff?

they will likely ask about your IT/admin skills/qualifications. Possibly some stuff about your organisational/prioritisation skills.

also ime some NHS interviews have generic questions about things like confidentiality, data protection, The values of the organisation.
if they ask about confidentiality and if your would breach it, remember that in some rare instances e.g. safeguarding you WOULD breach it.

GreenTeaPingPong · 18/12/2022 22:58

It'll probably be 'tell us about a time when you..' questions - off the top of my head, 'when you had to deal with competing priorities' , 'had to deal with a difficult person' , or 'tell us about a mistake you made and what you learnt from it' , something about confidentiality / GDPR, something about diversity/inclusion or treating people with respect. Why are you the right person for this role? Why do you want this role? and the classic tell us about a weakness. Tell us about something you're proud of. They'll want to know that you're competent with IT stuff, and accurate - how do you make sure you don't make mistakes? I imagine something about your experience of supervising staff and what was difficult, what is your style?

This is not the Trust I work for, I just Googled randomly
but most NHS Trusts will have their values and vision available online to the general public.

I ask around 5 questions based on the essential criteria

So will be asking for an example of when you used the following
Ie confidentiality
Equality & diversity
It skills
Possibly how you resolved conflict in the work place, stuff like that

Band 3 supervisor? Gosh the NHS get tighter and tighter! Good luck!

Loreloren · 19/12/2022 20:35

Well the job title is outpatient supervisor. There are many band 3 supervisors who report to team leads who are band 4s in the trust.

Thank you 😊

Still extremely low banded, sounds like our trust. Band 5 should be the minimum for a supervisor with the job matching on agenda for change. Disgusting! Sorry op, just makes me mad.

cheninblanc · 20/12/2022 22:48

Customer service
Organisation skills
Dealing with different tasks at once
Difficult patients
Situations you've resolved
Trust values

My old trust had band 3s as supervisors, not unheard of. Good luck x

I have a band 3 supervisor, she had the job made up for her as she had been a B2 for years and banging on about being promoted.
I have worked as a B3 before in a different trust and no way would there ever have been a B3 supervisor all managerial roles started at B6.
Going back to my “ supervisor “ as soon as she got her new role, she became a nightmare, critical, nit picking, micromanaging……in a word a bully. Even said to us “ right I’ve got the job I’m now going to start cracking the whip!
Im on long term sick at the moment, at the beginning of my illness she clearly didn’t believe I was poorly. I was in bed, could hardly walk and didn’t know what day it was , she sent a snotty text telling me to be in on Friday as she needed cover, I was signed off by GP. When I sent in my long term sick certificate, she completely ignored me, didn’t even wish me happy Christmas.
Because of her I won’t return to my job sadly.

I know I’ve completely digressed, but just making a point that a B3 is not really suitable for a supervisor role unless a lot of training and experience in the role. I feel B6 managers will just delegate all the crap down to the B3. Be aware.

newjobwoess · 30/12/2022 11:31

@Furcoatandnoknickerz Awful but I think this dynamic can be partly created by things like this, a band 3 supervisor is a stupid idea, you can't get promoted in the nhs anyway you have to climb the rungs with job applications. Not having a go at you, it sounds awful and I've seen a similar dynamic which was horrible and toxic.

Furcoatandnoknickerz · 30/12/2022 13:44

@newjobwoess yes I’m aware you don’t “get promoted “ she had been B2 for years, was at the top of the band. She couldn’t go any further unless she traveled a good 1 1/2 hours each way to the main hospital, she wasn’t prepared to do that. A B3 supervisor role was made up for her, it was still advertised on the jobs site for anyone to apply for, not knowing they were wasting their time as she was earmarked for the job. She was interviewed as normal and offered the job.
She obviously has no idea that a supervisory role is NOT about giving orders, gaslighting, throwing tantrums, marching out of the office, going home in a strop if she doesn’t get her own way etc, etc.
The whole thing absolutely stinks, but there you go …..NHS of today.

newjobwoess · 30/12/2022 16:42

Wow well you don't need to bite my head off furcoat.

Wow well you don't need to bite my head off furcoat.

@newjobwoess I didn’t realise I had! You kindly advised me you don’t get promoted in the NHS , I do know this, and was merely giving more explanation to the story!
I do apologise.
