No payslips for 6 months & no pension contributions for 4 months

I work for a small company. Boss didn’t give us payslips until we kicked up a fuss then got a firm to send us the back dated ones. We now haven’t had any further ones for over 6 months.
Yesterday I got an email from our pension provider saying no employer contributions have been made in the last quarter!
We’ve had to remind our employer to pay us some months as he’s ‘been busy’
Its honestly a complete shambles but bringing anything to his attention just leads to excuses that he will sort it out and that we can trust him.
I like my job but this is making me want to move on. I’m in my 50s so not as marketable as I used to be despite my experience. The whole situation is doing my head in! Any advice gratefully accepted.

I’d start by calling HMRC and check they have been receiving your NI and tax contributions. I’d then look for another job in the new year.

If he's not issuing payslips then it's very likely that he hasn't been paying tax and NI, either, and you know he hasn't been making pension contributions; which indicates either he's on the fiddle or has very bad cash flow problems. Neither of those is good.

Treat the 'we can trust him' with the contempt it deserves because you clearly can't. Call ACAS for advice pronto.

Just re-read and seen that he's not paying you on time. This is a company that one way or another is in deep financial trouble -'busy' isn't an excuse where things like pay and payslips are concerned. If he isn't in trouble then he's very disorganised and not someone I'd work for - you've done the work, you're entitled to be paid.

While you're getting advice on what to do start looking for another job - agency work if you have to.
