I m sorry i have posted in the wrong section, wasnt sure where to go! I have a young ds and i desperately need to earn some money. I have looked into working part time but childcare is so expensive that id barely earn that much after paying for it. Have no friends or family that could have him so i really need a job that i can do from home and fit around him. Tried avon, bettaware before etc so pleeease dont mention them! Also looked into being a courier etc but just no possible as around where i live it is not possible to leave ds in car whilst i drop parcels etc off to peoples houses and i cant keep getting him out of car and carry parcels!!!

I have internet, phone, email etc but just cant find any jobs that actually pay and that i can do from home. Can anyone share with me what they do to earn money??? Or point me in the right direction? I really really need to earn some money!

child-minding?

try the mum and working website - you might see something there.

www.mumandworking.com

do you have a dp/dh - could you do an evening job whilst he does childcare?

Iota · 01/02/2008 13:06

I know someone who delivers leaflets/papers ( not the early morning ones) - not a huge earner but flexible

Rantmum · 01/02/2008 13:08

I agree with childminding, if you are already looking after a toddler, and you are patient, like children and have a bit of indoor space, it could be a career path with some flexibility and provide a fairly regular income

i thought about childcare but there are too many things i would have to change/do by law. Things like insurance, the security of my house (cant have a stairgate at bottom of stairs not a prob to my ds but will be to the people that come and check on you-cant remember who they are??)

That is a great website schneebly thanks but most of that is hosting partys of some sort..

iota, i do have dh but he works away most of the week therefore not around to have ds. I really need something i can sit at the computer and do...

If you are creative then what about designing things like invitations on the PC and selling them?
Making wedding favours? Coulddo them in the evening when ds is in bed.

Ebay or Amazon marketplace. Find old stuff you can sell, go to charity shops and buy up old jewellery, or books, or dvd etc and put them on ebay.

tori32 · 01/02/2008 13:21

The security of your home can be got round if you want to childmind. You can maybe use a playpen etc in stead of a gate to separate the stairs from the room etc. Insurance is £20ish for public liability and house in surance about £35 for buildings and contents. Usually you get up to £300 start up grant as well, to pay for changes needed.

Have you tried euphony DP does it in the evenings and he gets quite alot from it if you want some of the stuff email to you our email is [email protected]

Rantmum · 01/02/2008 13:21

Or combine tori's idea with an Ebay. and design invitations/thank you notes etc and sell your creations on your own Ebay shop?

tori32 · 01/02/2008 13:23

Good idea rantmum

mad4mybaby · 01/02/2008 13:26

Sorry about my total grammar deficiency, btw .

all different things DP has a code to use to get cheap rate orange phone contracts, really really cheap bt phone call packages and good deals with scottish and southeren gas and electric.
So then he told all close family and said i get £10 if you swich and it will be cheaper.
Everyone switched and saved around £200 a year each so there happy and dp got £10 and he gets a percentage of there bill every month (paid by euphony not by them)
after he had signed family and anyone who had herd word of mouth by family he then looked on gumtree and started getting people to do the same thing and for every one who did he got £100.
Theres alot more to it than what i know but in the first 90 days he made about £1000 if i remember rightley.
Just doing 1 a night.
