Lots of jobs with fixed end date of 31/03/23

This is a bit of an odd question but I've been seeing so many jobs which are fixed contract only to the end of 31/03/23, including a job I've just accepted. Does anyone know why? Is it because of the new financial year starting in April?

Thanks!

If it's in the public sector (NHS, say) some trusts are only being allowed to advertise fixed term roles. Plus use of agency likely to be curtailed dramatically due to vast overspends.

Hard to see what could possibly go wrong with either decision, eh....

Do they like look it's recruitment agencies advertising?

End of financial year for lots of companies/public sector, so funding may only be approved in this financial year, so they can't offer for years where funding isn't approved yet

Budget allocated for current tax year only.

Ah I see, so it's to do with funding. It is an NHS job. So hopefully this job may potentially get more funding for April 2023 onwards or I'll have to look elsewhere!

If it's an NHS England or Digital post it's because they are being merged and they can't offer permanent posts until the reorg is finished so they don't disadvantage existing employees that might be at risk
