Sick pay

Hi, I’m currently on sick pay and now my employer told me after December there is no more funds to pay me. Am I still entitled to sick pay? Does this mean she is dismissing me? Advice would be appreciated x

How long have you been off sick?
Do you receive SSP or enhanced pay by your employer?

If they plan to stop paying SSP they must give you an SSP1 which you then use to claim benefits. www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay/eligibility

You will be entitled to contractual sick pay for as long as your contract says. After that you will get SSP until you hit 28 week’s contractual and/or SSP. After that you will need to claim benefits as above.

I’m off for 2 weeks now and maybe more as I’m seeing the shoulder specialist tomorrow.

So today I found out I have a nerve problem with my neck shoulder area. Dr has written me off another week. Now my employer has just told me the business does not have funds to pay my Nov and Dec! I’m so worried because of my rent at my temporary accommodation/council tax and other debts. Do I need to get a formal letter from my employer to show the council? Any advice please x

What does your employment contract say?

Not every employer pays about legal minimum, and legal minimum isn't often enough to pay rent and bills.

If your contract promises enhanced sick pay you can raise a complaint. If it's SSP then as a previous poster said, you need to file a request with the government for this to continue.

Yes, it states we will pay you SSP Statutory Sick Pay.

Sorry to hear, but if they can't afford to pay you then they can't afford to pay you. Could they adjust your working environment so that you could do some work?

Member13807 · 01/12/2022 19:13

No, there is no more work to do my employer stated there is no clients that wants to work with us as it’s a start up business. Plus I WFH but on sick leave from the 24.11.22
