I accepted a post a few weeks ago and still waiting for contract 🤔
Do you think there is any chance of the pay being backdated or am I being a hopeful loon.

Have you actually started working or are you waiting for the contract before you start?

StickyCricket · 23/11/2022 20:38

You want them to backdate your pay to the date you accepted the job offer?

ItsOnlyNovember · 23/11/2022 20:39

Is it internal or something? Have you started the job?

MegCleary · 23/11/2022 20:42

Working the role as bank on a 5, just curious

Back dated to before you started the role?? I’d say zero chance of that but I might be misunderstanding you

Elsiebear90 · 23/11/2022 20:44

You will only get it backdated to the point of your start date which will be specified in your contract. If they are expecting you to work as a band 6 before your start date then you need to raise that as an issue.

I don't work in the NHS, but if I got any kind of promotion I wouldn't expect to be paid the relevant rate until I actually started the job

MegCleary · 23/11/2022 20:48

aye, I don’t think I’ll be getting it from when I accepted just a bugger it’s taking so long

I doubt it will be back dated. I am aware of someone who was held in her existing post (band 5) for a prolonged period because they couldn't let her go due to poor staffing numbers . (She was transferring to another more senior post band 6 in the same organisation in this instance) She was able to appeal that they were disadvantaging her from pay due to the poor staffing and so she was able to be paid at the higher banding because of this, until they could let her go, how far back they honoured this, I'm not sure.

NHS director here. No you won't get back pay. You've already been paid on a salary you agreed at the time. Well done for securing a band 6 though!

StandUpForYourRights · 23/11/2022 20:52

You need to ask your line manager as it depends on the date they put on the change form (assuming that is all that is required).

If a formal appointment is required with occupationalhealthand employmentchecks etc, zero chance.

I start induction training with my new NHS job tomorrow, a very low scale bank role, my interview was about a month ago, they offered me the job during the interview and I signed the contract two days later, it was subject to references and DBS, but that was dealt with within a week.

Just to add they were so organised it was incredibly impressive.
