Work place harassment

I made and allegation of gross misconduct after a former partner and current colleague tried to force his way back to my house and I had to beg a taxi driver to take me to a station where I had to run away from this person.
My ex partner will not take no for an answer and believes we are meant to be together. I have hundreds of messages that say this, plane and simple but as they are private messages, they do not count.
Due to lack of evidence the claim was not upheld. As a result of this, in the meeting that took place, I was made to feel shamed for my actions and told I could have potentially been dismissed for my actions as I had been deemed to have acted unprofessionally.
My only unprofessional action has been in response to the significant and prolonged harassment of a former partner where I have been told by that persons line manager that I should not report it to hr.

I am a victim of harassment and of domestic abuse and now I am being made to sit with this colleague and have mediation otherwise my role is out at risk as I will be deemed to be interfering with professional practice.

As far as my employer is concerned, there is no evidence of work place harassment. The harassment has taken place at work but all messages and contact was made on a personal basis. This person has used work as an opportunity to coerce me but I am not protected by any law. Even though I have filed a police report, and I do not feel safe in my workplace my employer will not do anything about this. How can I move forward with this?

I have no legal knowledge and I'm sure someone will come along who has. Have you taken any legal action? Have you spoken to the police or a solicitor about a restraining order?

NakedMum33and3rd · 18/11/2022 17:14

Yes, I am applying for a non-molestation order. Work do not seem to care. They are treating me as if I am the perpetrator for doing this.

Surely the timing of the messages us evidence it is happening in the workplace.

NakedMum33and3rd · 18/11/2022 17:24

Yes but the messages are personal and not work related so they say they don't count.

They absolutely do count! You are being harassed and bullied by a colleague in the workplace. It is irrelevant whether it’s on a work device or on work time. Contact your trade union if you have one or ACAS

LIZS · 18/11/2022 17:25

Bit even so it is unprofessional to send such messages in the workplace and during working hours.

MajorCarolDanvers · 18/11/2022 17:26

Please contact ACAS for advice about this.

NakedMum33and3rd · 18/11/2022 17:36

I contacted acas today and they have sent me information on how to appeal.

My work have a tendency to make roles redundant when they are not working for them and I feel if I push this too far I will find my self in that redundancy pool.

I'm a single mother of three children and I am terrified. I can't afford to not work.

Have you spoken to the police?

NakedMum33and3rd · 20/11/2022 15:10

Yes. I have spoken to the police but unless I prosecute there is not much I can do. I don't know if I have the bandwidth to do that.
