Hiya, not a copper but DH is. Assessment centre (unless it's changed) is multiple choice written exam and then interview and scenarios. You can get a book with sample questions to give him some idea of the stuff they'll be testing for, I think DH got one from Waterstones so they're easy enough to come by. Also has some example scenarios I think. They're mainly looking for logic and common sense. They're also quite hot on equality and diversity so it's worth knowing basics about the major religious and ethnic groups. Nothing too detailed just places of worship, food laws, that kind of thing. Hope that's some help. DH did his about 4 years ago so it might have changed a bit but hopefully not much. Best of luck!

DP has the book I think you mean, and he has learnt his competencies from filling out the application form (which was like an exam in itself!)
Thanks for answering.

No problem. The whole thing is a total nightmare and takes for ages but worth it if they get the job they want. My DH really enjoys it so it was worth the hassle of forms, assessment and training.

I know what you mean about how long it takes, I think DP first applied about 5 or 6 months ago and has finally heard back about the papersift.
We don't want just any old numptys policing our streets though do we.

Hi VS,

I will e-mail you some info - will be weekend before I get round to it. They sometimes do practical scenarios. Main competencies they are looking for is respect for race & diversity, and effective communication.
