Low level bullying - want to leave

Hello - can some of you not knowledgeable people help!

I work in a fairly senior role - there are two of us reporting into a manager. They dynamics started off fine, but I was undermined - subjected to jibes, gaslighting, trying to manage my staff by the other manager- this made me feel really unhappy, stressed and anxious. I highlighted this to my manager on a number of occasions but nothing happened.

I ended up going off sick - no alternative as my mental health was in shreds - I have been off almost two weeks and don’t want to go back - I am just not resilient enough. I have had no contact with my line manager (not even acknowledgement of my sick note) - even though they are meant to stay in touch.

What should I be doing now (apart from job hunting) - my notice is three months.

Get another sick note ask for 6 weeks.
Keep job hunting

I am still out of work sick - they are supposed to be in contact weekly (that is what they promised) - week three and have heard nothing. I have decided to leave - I would like PILON - how would you go about negotiating this?

You can ask, but I don't see why you would. Even if they agreed - and there is no reason they should - then your employment stops immediately. As do your NI contributions, which can count towards a lot of things if you ended up with a 3+ months gap on your employment record. Plus no benefits if you resign.

I am surprised that they are supposed to be in contact weekly - is that laid down in policy? Many employers would expect you to phone in weekly, but wouldn't initiate contact, especially when someone is off with stress (because usually when they do that they get accused of adding to the stress by contacting people off sick - it's a heads you win, tails they lose sort of thing and one it's almost impossible to get right).

I have a sick note which states “work related stress” for four weeks. When I submitted it I didn’t even get an acknowledgement from my boss (I have spoken to him already and explained how I was feeling) - I got a call from HR a couple of days later and they said they would call weekly- this is week three and no more contact. I don’t feel I can go back - the thought of it being just the same just makes me feel really anxious - I just want to draw the line and move on I think…

Just keep getting sick notes op. If you go to HR with another 4 or six weeks HR themselves may offer something to you however, I think it's better you stay "employed" but on sick rather than being paid off.
