Six month review in tech industry - any rights?

DH started a new job six months ago. He sent off a generic cv and they hired him at a higher level than he was expecting with more money.

At his three month review they've told he he was in the wrong position and moved him sideways.

He's been having difficulty with a problem for the last few days and had to call in a colleague at the same level to help him. (We think the colleague instigated the sideways move).

Now he has a six month review with the managing director.

The meeting is next week and we are both terrified he is going to be sacked.

Anyone know his rights here. I think he was taken on as a permanent member of staff.

It's going to be a long wait....

I should add 3 month review was carried out by his immediate manager.

He doesn’t have any rights.

He’s worked there for less than 2 years so can be sacked for any reason at all (barring discrimination of course).

He can be let go. But it is usual to have a six month review at the end of a probationary period so it may be just a chance for a catch up and for DH to say how he feels things are going and what he needs help with. Companies don't usually want to go to the hassle and expense of finding a replacement

He’s having a problem and he called somebody in to help him, I would call that dealing with the situation. Asking for help is not a bad thing. I can see no reason why this would lead to his termination or that it is linked to the six month review at all.
