Am I entitled to backdated pay after I've left?

Anyone with HR or legal knowledge?

I left my previous employer in August. They have just completed a lengthy, delayed, pay negotiation, and agreed a pay rise for staff. The increased pay will be paid from this month, but it should have increased from April so there will be a backdated lump sum to employees. I know the details of this as I've heard from former colleagues.

If the pay negotiations had been completed on time I would have been paid that pay rise from April until I left in August. Am I entitled to ask for the backdated pay up to the point I left? Or does leaving remove any entitlement to it?

No HR background but I assume your contract ended with them when you left and that severs any obligation they may have had

Assuming this is NHS, I’ve had colleagues in just this situation receive the back pay. You will probably have to chase it though.

If it is the 1925 njc thing, there is a thread in cost of living which says what to do

It's not NHS, this is a private sector company, I don't know if that makes a difference?
I did think about just emailing HR to ask, but worried I will look like an idiot.

I am entitled to it despite leaving, worked in a school.

I’ve always paid it but that’s public sector.

If it’s going to be paid in Nov I would wait until after payday and then contact your former employer. In my experience people who have left might get paid a month later e.g. Dec payroll.
