nhs trac - no update on start date

I’m still awaiting on my start date for a job with the nhs. All of my pre employment checks on Trac have been completed e.g dbs and occupational health, however under my references all it says is ‘recieved’ not ‘completed’ but they’ve had my references for about 2 weeks now

i just wondered if anyone knows how long roughly it’ll take to get a start date, i have emailed them and i’ve had no reply

Find any number you can for the resourcing team. Find anyone who put it on linked in they work there. Call switch for the hospital and ask for the number for recruitment or resourcing. It's a ball ache. What trust is it? I've worked for a couple up north, I have a couple of contacts.

Call the contact info at the bottom of the Job description and ask them to chase everything too

TRAC is incredibly cumbersome and badly laid out compared to the system it replaces though I'm sure HR absolutely love it and I wonder if numbers of applications for NHS jobs will decline, possibly making it easier for people to recruit those already known to them.

I'd second the advice of getting in touch with recruitment or whoever you have the number for, some trusts are excellent and others bloody awful in this respect. It's yet one more thing that is far from uniform in the so called "National" Health Service.

It's half term in some places. People might be off on annual leave.

Try and contact the person that interviewed you. If they are away don't expect an update til they are back

Would assume your manager wants to died up process so I would suggest emailing her and asking for update on start date which will prompt her to log onto TRAC and approve the references

speed up, not died!!

I moved NHS jobs recently. Once all my checks were back I spoke to my new manager about start dates and everything. I’d chase them rather than Trac now.

not surprising but i’m still waiting lol :/

i was told that apparently manager had been on annual leave that whole time and has only come back, it’s just frustrating as they’ve had my references for 4 weeks now…
and every time i ring them up it’s the same thing that they’re waiting on the manager

thats a good idea to contact my manager directly but i don’t have any contact details for herself as the job was offered to me via a jobs fair sort of thing

In my experience, NHS recruitment can take a few months. My daughter applied in summer 2020 when made redundant due to covid measures and didn't start at the hospital until December (where she promptly caught covid two weeks after starting!). A youngster at my current workplace applied in the summer and will be starting in January.

I don't know what application procedure they went through but the positions were for nursing assistants.
