Hello, I've tried to find the answer to this question in various ways and failed so am hoping someone here may be able to advise.
I am employed 4 days p.w. (So am on PAYE) but I also work as self employed one day per week, so I also do a self assessment tax return for this work. When filling out the tax return online the form asks if I wish to make class 4 voluntary national insurance contributions, all the form say is that this is voluntary but may effect benefits and pension if not paid.
Bearing in mind I already pay NI through my employed work, does anyone know if it is advisable for me to pay this as well - or does it not matter?
(I have tried calling HMRC but couldn't get through.)
Sorry it's so boring 😄thanks for reading and for any replies.
