Can scored interviews get you feedback

Hi,

I was punching above my weight earlier this week and went for an interview totally outside of my current industry (but sadly it has kind of made me realise the work I am doing in current industry is very low value) the interviewers were really lovely, but, I did think it was odd, the interviewers didn't ask what I knew about the company I was interviewing at or why I wanted to leave my current job. All things I mulled over as really slightly strange after interview. I didn't think I dressed well for a 26k job but looking over the website, senior staff were not coming across as wearing the jacket and being so formal when I looked into the organisation.

i got the unsuccessful outcome yesterday but also confirmation it was a 'scored' interview, but feedback is available, but how for a scored interview. Surely it is cut and dried through the actual scores?

The feedback will be based around telling you why your answer scored, for example, a 3 rather than a 5.

It sounds like you may have been lacking in experience so it’s likely that this will have come out in your answers.

It’s useful feedback.

Can confirm the above.

i work at a large organisation that scores interviews. Have been interviewed and interviewer on a pretty regular basis.

if for example my question was ‘what is GDPR , why is it important — tell me about a time you Used it‘

if I was scoring out of 5 (for a less senior role)

Score of 1 would be had heard of the legislation, knows it relates to control of data

a score of 5 would be has a qualification, handles Sensitive data in current or recent role, can talk confidently and knowledgeably on most aspects.

if the role was senior, I’d score out of 10 and I’d want to know you had been in charge of people who were handling sensitive data.

so if you asked me for feedback, I’d say (eg) you scored a 3 on that question. You had obviously read in depth on the subject, had great theoretical knowledge but had no experience of handling GDPR data in your current role. So my feedback might be, if you are interested in this type of role (and I’ll know if we are looking to recruit more data handlers in the next few months) I’d say, can you see if you can get some experience — if not at work then maybe volunteering.

i might also say, I know we will be recruiting into more general roles soon, that don’t need such specific Skillsets and encourage you to apply for that when it comes round.

Sorry I should have explained this much better, I always use to be a strict jacket to interview wearer, I've tried it out a couple of times now not wearing one now from where we've had work from home etc and is it out in these times, and when I had done my research into the company before the interview, there were a couple of videos about culture / life at xyz organisation, which seemed relaxed in just wearing a blouse or shirt so that kind of made my mind up not to wear a jacket, but then I'm thinking maybe for the salary of the role (26k is serious money to me and the role was based in a contact centre) maybe I looked just to informal on the day, but I could be totally wrong. I was still very made up to get a job interview in the first place and had a nice afternoon out.

I did a civil service interview a couple of weeks ago and was unsuccessful- but I did get feedback around the scores, and it was SO valuable, as it explained why I got the score I did - saying good examples but limited evidence in some etc etc and of course if another candidate scores higher than me then they would be successful.

So I didn’t get bad feedback per se, but another candidate demonstrated more clearly than me and therefore scored higher than me.
so no it’s not cut and dried as the scores are the scores - there is a reason for those scores, and getting feedback is really worthwhile
