Health insurance through job

I’m starting a new job and they’ve offered health insurance through it. It’s with Axa. Does anyone know what they likely tax issues are with a work benefit like this?

Tax on employment income (and benefits) is not paid in arrears.

You can report through payroll or P11D at the end of the year.

@motherofawhirlwind that sounds like what my cover is. Great if it’s roughly £1 per year of age!

Your employer should be able to give you the premium costs at the level at which you take it, ie single, partner, kids etc. it is then this amount you will be taxed on and will either be taxed at source or on a p11d. Ask your new employer how much and how calculated.

Definitely ask your employer how much the premium is. For my last 3 companies it was variously £700, £4k, and now about £600. All just for me, not family.

I opted out of the £4k one, it was ridiculous amount of extra tax to pay for something I didn't even use some years. It wasn't even an amazing policy.
