OH. Is there any point in addressing this?

Hi,

I have name changed for this as it could be quite outing.

I have had an OH appointment today due to long term sickness, the likelihood is that I will be dismissed as I'm unlikely to get better any time soon. That's all fine and I am prepared for that outcome.

However during the meeting the GP brought up time I had off previously when I had a miscarriage, she said that my employer said I claimed my absence was pregnancy related however the fit notes provided just stated feeling unwell.

To me that sounds like they're implying I have made it up and the GPS tone certainly suggests that is what she thought.

I have gone back through my emails to find it, and the fit note clearly states the reason for my absence as a miscarriage. It doesn't have any relevancy to my current absence and I do feel like I'm maybe overreacting a bit but it really has upset me and I was going to email my line manager with copies of the notes. But really is there any point?

It won't change anything I suppose but I am so upset and angry that I've been made to feel this way about a very traumatic event in my life which had no relevancy to the reason for my current absence. Should I say anything or just leave it as like I say the likelihood is that I won't be employed by them for much longer.

If it's not relevant to the current situation why do you think she brought it up? That's weird to me. I'd also be upset I think. If correcting her will make you feel better then go for it, nothing to lose right?!

You can just say "Hi GPS, thank you for your time earlier. Per your earlier enquiry regarding my medical leave in (insert date), please see attached for the file containing information about the miscarriage and associated medical leave."

Or something like that.

This is good advice OP, I’d also ask them to confirm the relevancy of the absence.

I would as a matter of principle, the copy of the sick note proves you were correct. I hope your health improves or at least remains stable.
