Burnout / Mismanagement

Hi

Any advice pls?

I work in quite a confusing structure. Where I've ended up having to do far more than others. Including directly and matrix managing far more people plus people brand new to the business

My manager keeps talking about retiring but generally pretends to support bur doesn't. I always seem to lose whenever I ask for help.

Anyway last week I had a series of issues I needed to get masnhers sign off for. Manager refused to get me additional help (although colleagues had agreed) then undermined me saying I don't manage people I do, in front of others. Then a recognition was given to someone for work I have done.

I've worked very long hours for a long time and hit the wall signed off and resigned

Now the managers boss wants to talk to me. I'm off for 3wk. I have quite a long notice period but can't decide if to tell truth or not. My manager is quite vindictive and lazy. But keeps saying wants to retire so could be worth it ir they do soon. If they don't, the manager would make my life very difficult if I speak to their boss

Shall I give up. Help

Tell the truth definitely, why wouldn't you?
If you have already resigned. I understand and can relate to a lot of your issues.
Confusing structure, others (men usually) trying to get me to do tasks but me not saying no. Also others writing up big updates on how wonderful they are, failing to mention my part in it.
I know I'm to blame for a lot of it as I wouldn't be very self promoting. Working on it but it's not coming naturally.

Thanks

Is it burning bridges though?

This senior guy has no idea some other people my grade do next to nothing and refuses to support even when explicitly asked

Due to manager always talking about retiring, seems to be a smokescreen to avoid anyone challenging / any feedback and just drifting alonf and that's affecting the wider team. Been saying about retiring ever since I've been there (15m)
