Any cleaners out there. I charge per hour at the minute £15 but hearing people say I should be doing it per home not hourly. Does anyone else do per home and how would I work out a price per home instead of hourly? I only have a handful of customers my little business is just progressing.

Who are these people telling you to charge per home, and what do they base that view on?

Lou22000 · 03/10/2022 21:20

There saying some clients want 2 hours cleans then want extras doing for no extra cost, every home is different and requires a different approach each time there comments I get

I don't understand..you clean for 2 hours.......its best to discuss beforehand what can realistically be achieved in that time.

HappyAsASandboy · 04/10/2022 06:19

I am not a cleaner, but I'd rather pay per hour. If I wanted "extras" doing, I'd expect to either pay for more time for you to do them or for you to do them if you finish the main cleaning early or for you to miss out some of the main cleaning to make time for them (and in any case, only if you were happy to do the "extras" in the first place!).

I have a small cleaning business, all my clients pay hourly rate of £16.50. A lot of my houses I have more of a housekeeping role, and work alongside my clients doing extra things like sorting, organising. They tell me what they’d like done as a priority and any time left is spent doing the actual cleaning, I always offer more hours if I have them available/they would like them for big jobs that need doing.
I don’t think there’s much difference in charging per hour or per house because I’m still not going to work for less than my hourly rate.
