Pay rises/ middle management

Just testing the water here, as looking at our very tight budget, as I'm sure many are.

DH and I both work in senior end of middle management for large employers that are doing well at the moment ( could of course change!).

Neither of us has had a pay rise in some years - me six - DH in about 8. DH has moved employers twice in that time - once on a promise which didn't work out and again to move to somewhere with better prospects. It's less of an option for me to move for various reasons.

We have a disabled DC and have found that all provisions died over the pandemic so we are paying privately - but it's over £1000 a month - which is becoming really hard to sustain.

Just wondered what others were seeing in the market at this level? I get top performance grades but am regularly told that pay increases are concentrated on more junior colleagues (which I don't disagree with).

Research what the median pay at your level in your sector(s) is - there are benchmarking surveys e.g. Hays www.hays.co.uk/salary-guide/salary-checker.

Look at what jobs are currently being advertised that you would consider applying for - not saying you have to apply, and look at salary range.

Use these two factors along with RPI rate to make a business case. Ask for more than you want so you can be negotiated down.
