Colleague Micromanaging/Undermining Me

I work as a PA and work alongside another PA (let’s call her Liz) we have separate bosses but work together as part of one team.

Last week we were both asked to reschedule some external training, Liz asked if I could take this as she was busy so I did. I’ve been working with the external training provider to get this sorted however they’ve been slow to respond due to Covid absence. Liz has followed up with me on this daily, I have explained the situation but she’s still felt the need to check daily.

Yesterday I finally got a date for the training but no time slot. I kept Liz in the loop and all day she kept chasing me on this and whether I’d booked a room/scheduled a zoom as she was worried we’d lose the date(?). I told her it was under control but I had more pressing matter that I needed to prioritise. She ended up scheduling a zoom for this herself however she did it incorrectly and I don’t even have a time slot yet!!

With my bosses consent, a daily task of mine is to go through my bosses emails and list the subjects. Today I noticed an email from Liz regarding this matter saying ‘Piggle is saying she is busy with something urgent for you, I think we need to get this training sorted so we don’t lose the date, I have capacity so should I take the urgent task from her or organise the training?’. This isn’t how we usually work, if she has capacity she would usually reach out to me directly. The training isn’t yet finalised with the external provider and is definitely not urgent. I just feel so undermined and micromanaged by Liz, this isn’t the first time she’s acted like this and it’s so frustrating. I just don’t know how to handle it, do I just need to grow a thicker skin and forget about it, do I approach Liz and explain how I feel or do I address it with our manager?

' Liz, we agreed that I would look after the training project and you passed it to me to deal with. Please could you stop reminding me.Its all in hand, the date is booked and once I have confirmed the time, I will keep you posted'

I'm a PA and I think the previous poster's suggestion is a good one. Keep it light and non critical and reassuring as you will have to continue to work with the other PA.

I suspect your boss will know you well enough to know you are capable of doing this task.

I would personally pass that task back to her, if she is worried about it too much and keep following up, she should take it back from you and deal with it herself- you could offer to hand over to her with the latest status
