Signed off work - bullying. Heard nothing from HR. Is this normal?

Morning all,

Just looking for some advice. Dr signed me off work for two weeks due to stress related issues as I explained all that's been going on at work. Advised work that the anxiety & panic attacks from micro management & drip feeding of info & requests has become too much - this has been highlighted over the years too.

Note emailed to Head of Team & HR Tuesday first thing. Email from HoT hours later thanking me for my email & that's it.
Nothing from HR. Is that right?
Should I expect something / anything from HR or would that come prior to my return or when I return?

Thank you for reading!

As an HR manager I would say contacting you while signed off for work related stress is dodgy territory. You are signed off because you need a break from work so them contacting you could be seen as detrimental to you recovering

I'd expect that once you are near the end of your time off they'll contact you and will ask to informally discuss the circumstances. You will likely be sent the company grievance policy and things will go from there

They have acknowledged they have received it, I assume they will be looking into what you have said. But as op said, if you are off HR contacting you to discuss could be seen as pressuring you while you are sick.

Did you say in the email you wish to discuss it before you make plans to come back?

In places where I have worked, we would open up the discussion once you said you wanted to OR once you start exploring options to come back to work.

They're giving you a break to have some time out for yourself. If it is for two weeks, you will probably have a return to work interview where you can begin to explore these issues, and, ideally, a stress at work risk assessment to identify changes which need to be made. They may also seek Occupational Health support. If you are signed off for longer, they might put the wheels in motion at that stage.

If you feel it would be good for you to talk it through at this stage, there's nothing stopping you asking them to do this.

You need to be very precise about "micro management" and "drip feeding of requests" as these are clearly very subjective. Managers are ultimately there to ask people to do things - sometimes lots of things - it's the way it is done which makes the difference. Spend some time noting exactly what you need to say.

Yes take some time and take care of yourself. Best of luck and I hope this gets sorted.

@SomethingWitty44 how are things now? I ask because I’m being bullied and am considering speaking to my gp for some time out before she breaks me.
