CV writing

Can anyone recommend a professional CV writer? Specifically for a 52 year old who is practically unemployable.
An opportunity has come up for which I don't really need a CV but have to supply one.
My work history is so sketchy and patchy but I have done a lot of things, unusual things that I would struggle to translate into a meaningful work history on paper.
I've googled but see that CVs start at £150 in most cases and I can see that it is really for professional people who have long careers with experience etc looking to really sell themselves - and that's not the case with me.
Thanks

Hi @Pellets : I write CVs as a sideline, I think you should expect to pay £150 or more as translating a non traditional background into a functional skills based CV is a LOT of work (possibly 5-6 hours, maybe more)

I think you should start with your own attempt & then get it edited: this will be the most efficient and cost effective way

I've just written this comment on another thread so I'm going to post it here too:

I would NOT recommend a CV writing agency called TopCV.

It's a paid-for service which I got free as part of a conference I attended. Their website is quite convincing, but the end result was pretty bad.

Although they claim to be professional CV writers who "know your industry" they clearly had no clue about my particular industry and its norms for job applications (which are non-standard applications).

The grammar and syntax were poor in parts, and some phrases were contradictory. Their keyword optimisation for my CV was almost the same as for a colleague of mine, even though he works in a different field.

They clearly work to a copy-and-paste template. There is some discussion on Trustpilot about whether they are even based in the UK (Vietnam?) Many of the positive reviews on Trustpilot are clearly fake.

Don't waste your money!

@Cleverestclog : this does not surprise me, the cheap CV sites seem to be based out of China (the SHEIN of the CV world?). Better to get input from someone UK based who actually does know your industry…
