NHS employee looking for new job on trac jobs... Will manager find out?

I'm a longterm NHS employee (have been in same role for a few years). Due to recent issues with management and team dynamics causing stress, I've started looking for a new position. I'd like to stay within the same NHS Trust and have been looking for jobs on Trac.
Would my manager get to know whenever I apply for jobs on Trac? I realise that he'd be contacted for a reference if I'm appointed but I just mean would he automatically be notified by an alert somewhere in the Trac system when I actually apply for roles?
Trying to keep my jobhunting activity to myself until I manage to secure a new role.
Any NHS employees know whether managers find out when you apply for anything on Trac?

Nope, you can tick the box that says employee can only be approached after offer for a reference too

LashesZ · 11/09/2022 15:40

My trust doesn't ask for a reference if you are internal anyway but as pp, you can untick permissions to approach prior to interview. Your manager won't know if you're looking/applying anyway, it's a standalone website

Fortyisthenewthirty · 11/09/2022 15:46

No absolutely not. If you tick the box for them not to be contacted until you accept a job, they won't hear about it via the system.

I’ve applied for a job on trac and had the interview. How long does it normally take to find out if successful/unsuccessful and how do I find out - through the trac system or a phone call?

Mumsongums · 14/06/2024 11:55

Most of the time the same day but be prepared that jobs are advertised but they already have somebody. Everything higher than band 4 is hard to get as already taken.

Zoz1 · 14/06/2024 17:03

Thanks, I got an email a couple of days ago saying I was unsuccessful. I thought the interview went really well but obviously not well enough!

KennaThomas · 14/06/2024 17:06

Your manager wouldn't be informed by Trac.

BUT they may be told by the interviewer informally 'oh so and so from you team is having an interview with us" if they have a prior relationship.

You are under no liberty to tell your manager you are looking to leave. It's none of their business.

You can tick the option to not contact your references prior to interview.

I know somebody who went to 30 interviews already for band 4 perfectly matching jobs and doing well at interviews is not what you know only who you know unfortunately.

Wow that’s ridiculous! Maybe I’ll start looking elsewhere if that’s how it is. Thanks

KennaThomas · 14/06/2024 18:40

A sign of a good interview for the NHS is that it lasts around 45 mins plus.

But also agree, many times there's already a pre approved candidate and it is who you know.

I had an interview yesterday and was told I would hear by Monday and asked how I would like to hear. Good luck

What band and what kind of job you applying for if you a nurse will be easy to get band 5 nurse job but if office base job will be difficult beyond band 4. Any higher is who you know even in my team when they advertise they will tell people to apply but they already have in mind somebody and all is internal. People outside the team have no chance. All is set in stone unfortunately. I heard they need 5 people to apply is all a game.

It was clerical work, band 3. Maybe I’ll try again if something comes up
