Suspended from work

NC for this as didn't want it linked to my usual username.

DH has been suspended from work. A (soon to be ex) colleague has put in a grievance against him for racism. He has absolutely never been and never would be racist.

This colleague worked there for 8 months, handed his notice in and then put the grievance in, everyone in the company has to give a 3 month notice period so it is blatantly obvious he just didn't want to work his 3 months.

The grievance said 6 other people also made remarks but DH is the only one suspended.

It's basically ex colleague's word against DH's. Can anyone advise on what is likely to happen? Will DH be sacked (i know nobody can say for sure) but if anyone has been in a 'he said she said' position before or works in HR and could say what they would do would be much appreciated.

We have DCs and a mortgage that I can't afford on my own so in a complete panic.

He can call ACAS even if not in union for advice

Also as having worked in the motor trade try calling BEN, the motor trade benevolent charity. Ben.org.uk

I haven't directly experienced this but many years ago, as a teacher, a child accused me of hurting her. I wasn't suspended but it was investigated. Whilst waiting for the outcome, I researched false accusations and realised there had to be evidence, in this case, physical signs of an injury. The whole thing was dismissed as there was no physical evidence. I had not hurt the child, of course, so there couldn't be any, (I had told her off and I knew she hadn't liked that, but nothing more).

It felt horrible to have it dismissed due to lack of evidence, as it made me wonder if the people involved in the investigation didn't believe me. But there were no ongoing repercussions.

If your DH was definitely not racist and there is no evidence against him, then it should be fine.

Maybe he's innocent, but accusing me of being the 'root cause' of something that won me a payout, an apology and being begged to sign an NDA, doesn't help your argument. I was making the point that in my case, the other person was also insistent that they were innocent of racism and couldn't understand what they'd done was wrong. You don't work there. You only have one side of the story. If he's been suspended but others aren't, sounds like there's more to it.

@Upsidedownagain I'm sorry you had to go through that, must have been an awful time for you. I get what you mean about lack of evidence rather than them saying 'we believe you'

@ThePoetsWife 😂😂😂

You've just confirmed what I think🙄

No sympathy from here. You both need to go for some anti racist training.

I'd get decent legal advice straight away, as in tomorrow.
