Is this considered pregnancy related illness

Hi there
I've suffered from hormonal migraine for a while but since I've become pregnant I'm unable to take the prescribed medication. That in conjunction with my hormones going crazy I've been having roughly 2 migraines a week. This in turn has meant a fair few absences from work. I've just been told by my manager I need to have a formal meeting regarding my absences. Surely these absences should be disregarded due to it being pregnancy related? Any thoughts/similar experiences would be much appreciated. Im really worried

How many weeks are you?

I'm not sure if they are counted pregnancy related or not but if they are your employer could trigger early maternity leave once you reach 36 weeks if they are.

Pregnancy related. They can’t discriminate or manage sickness based on pregnancy related sickness. They have to record all episodes of pregnancy related sickness separately and can’t trigger maternity leave until 36 weeks. Have you been clear with your employer that this is pregnancy related as exacerbated by hormones plus you’re unable to take your usual medications due to pregnancy?

Have you made it clear to work how the absence is related to your pregnancy? Because at first glance, migraines aren't going to be in the pregnancy related bit, but in your case, it sounds like they are.

I'm only 7 weeks pregnant and the doctors have advised that the migraines should improve the further along I get. My work know I'm pregnant and that the migraines have increased in frequency since I've become pregnant. Thanks for the advice its much appreciated
