Ideas please for a home based typing role

I’m currently looking to work from home part time. Mum to two kids; one at school and the youngest starting nursery very soon. Also a career to parent with early stage Alzheimer’s living at home with us.

I worked in admin / typing roles around 10 years ago so I understand I need to update skills. I still have a 70-80wpm speed.

I have looked at some home based roles but just looking for some more ideas really.

Many thanks
😊

Thanks @Annonnimoouse42 but was hoping if there were any suggestions that the poster would give some insight on their role. That’s all.

Am not sure what you mean? @Annonnimoouse42 has given directions to a site where you can search for jobs?

The company that I used to work for

Changed from a secretary or PA typing minutes of meetings to recording videos of meetings instead

However, I expect that some job roles still require typed content

There might be a small local business or sole trader that wants quotes or invoices typed out and then emailed to customers.

Transcription services? I paid someone £80 for an hour's work once for this...

Researchers probably still need people to type up their interviews. Maybe advertise at a local university?

Was it an hour's work, or an hour of conversation to be transcribed? One hour of conversation takes something like 5 hours to transcribe.

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions.

I ended up making crafts and selling online. But I also brushed up on typing skills as want to go into transcription work. But I’ve found for medical transcription work I need to have worked in clinical setting at least a year.
Pitman training do a short course on medical transcription which I’ll do as would update my cv too.
Yes, a few friends have also suggested local councils have wfh opportunities.

Something else which I’m looking into is agency roles (admin/typist) wfh. So even if it’s 2 weeks working one month then 4 weeks another etc…

Personally for me wfh would help my situation with two young children and elderly parents.

How have others found looking for jobs?

All the best.
