What exactly is the salary?

Hi all, the job advert states exactly this. The job is 22 hpw:

Salary
£23,949 - £26,282 per annum pro rata

Does that mean the stated amount is the actual salary and that it has been pro rated based on the number of hours per week?

Or is the amount shown the FTE?

I would say the FTE salary will be somewhere in the range stated.

sheepdogdelight · 29/08/2022 15:44

The salary quoted is the full time salary (salary range). Your salary will be worked out as a proportion.

chocolateoranges33 · 29/08/2022 15:44

FTE is the salary shown. It will be reduced from this for part time work hours

topcat2014 · 29/08/2022 15:46

Sounds to me like that is what you would earn for 52 weeks at 37 hours per week.

If it's a school you need to multiply by 22 and divide by 37 for the hours per week, then multiply by 45.6 and divide by 52.143 for the weeks per year.

I'm guessing a bit at the 45.6 as weeks per year depends on the contract

Str8talker · 29/08/2022 15:46

Divide the pro rata amounts by 38 or 40 (for working hours per week) and multiply by 22. In other words, they'll pay circa £15K p.a.

MarthaChuzzlewhit · 29/08/2022 16:50

Thanks all. It's a technical job with the NHS, setting up IT equipment and such in a hospital, 3 days per week.

I would expect that is the full time pay. Which is confusing. but I would check with recruiter.

so bottom of scale 23,949,assume 35 hours is full time gives equivalent of £684 per year per hour so £15,053 for 22 hours.

Annieisalright · 29/08/2022 16:54

No it doesn't mean that

The stayed range is per annum FT

Annieisalright · 29/08/2022 16:54

Stated

StandUpForYourRights · 29/08/2022 16:55

If it's NHS, then 22 hours pew is just shy of 0.6 WTW so multiply salary by 0.6 and you'll get pro rata.

Hoghedge90 · 29/08/2022 16:56

I would say that’s the salary depending on experience

StandUpForYourRights · 29/08/2022 16:56

WTE I meant! NHS is 37.5hours per week

Octomore · 29/08/2022 16:57

MarthaChuzzlewhit · 29/08/2022 16:50

Thanks all. It's a technical job with the NHS, setting up IT equipment and such in a hospital, 3 days per week.

NHS standard working week is 37.5 hrs, so divide it by 37.5 and multiply by 22 to get the part time salary.

As a rule, the advertised salary is always the amount for a full time equivalent, not the part time salary.

StandUpForYourRights · 29/08/2022 16:58

Also, you would start on the bottom of the scale and increment up to the top of the scale each year, hence the entire range is quoted. 27 days annual leave to start as well and entry to pension scheme

AtLeastPretendToCare · 29/08/2022 16:59

On 37.5 hours as FTE, 22 hours is £14,050.

SirChenjins · 29/08/2022 17:03

As others have said it’s the FTE , so you’d get a proportion of that.

Are you moving from another job in the NHS? Certainly up here you’ll move across on that salary, you won’t drop down to the start again - worth checking the T&Cs in your Board/Trust.

Octomore · 29/08/2022 17:05

Also, if it's NHS and you're joining as an external candidate, you be joining at the bottom of the band.

IcedOatLatte · 29/08/2022 17:08

Always if it says pro rata it means it's the range for the full time equivalent

catfunk · 29/08/2022 17:10

The FTE salary range is quoted so yours would be that range %FTE HOURS (usually 37) x 22

dangerrabbit · 29/08/2022 17:13

You need to multiply the amount by 0.6

MarthaChuzzlewhit · 29/08/2022 22:59

Thanks all. Not moving from another NHS job so yes I would be an external candidate.
