Is it the right time to move jobs?

Been in my current role 10 years - have been feeling it's time to make a move for the last couple of months.

I have a second interview next week for an in house role and a chat with a CEO from other agency in a week or so about a position.. both roles would mean a pay increase and development in my career.. appreciate I might not get either but just thinking about whether it's the right time to make a move given the potential recession..

I work in marketing/comm agency side so reliant on budgets which I suspect may be cut in the next couple of months (my agency made people redundant during the pandemic due to fees being cut).. I'm worried about moving then the offer being rescinded or being made redundant after I start - I know there's no guarantee either way but wonder if it's better to stay put..

I'd take the risk for the salary increase. Don't move unless you get one.

I'm in marketing too and just changed jobs but got an £11k pay rise which is giving us much needed breathing room in this COL crisis.

It really just depends on how risk averse you are and whether you have got a financial cushion to help you cope with a worst case scenario.

I'd risk it, even if I didn't have any savings, i'd just get a temporary job in care to tide me over if I got made redundant. I don't overthink stuff though, just go with your gut!

Thanks for the replies - it's tricky, I'm the higher earner out of myself and my DH, the extra salary would definitely improve our situation significantly but i can't afford to be out of work should things go wrong - we have a DD4 and no really savings to speak of, hence why I am in two minds about moving on..

Then again I keep thinking there is no guarantee that I wouldn't potentially be at risk of redundancy in my current role should we lose a couple of clients if the market changes... and there's also the fact that I have a serious ick feeling about the role so not sure how much longer I can stand to be there!
