Should I just do it?

hi everyone, been employed as a cleaner for 7 months part time on minimum wage. They make 6.50 for every hour I work. It’s domestic cleaning

shall I just go for it and go self employed? It’s a tiny company I work for

it’s just little things like do you put money aside if you are off sick at any point? Do you put money aside for holiday time off?

Just do it!!! But yes, do put money aside for periods of leave, be that sickness or holiday. Advertise your services, gage interest.

Are you working full time for them? If so, Could you go part time with your current employer until you’ve build up your clients? So part time self employed, part time employed by your current employer?

Exactly what @stressingOout says. Good cleaners are like gold dust but if you can do half and half until you get set up then great. And do it properly with insurance , tax, saving for sickness etc
Good luck !

i just work part time for them within the school hours as I’m a single parent so fits in with school run which I’m grateful for. I was working a second job along side it but it involved a lot of additional work at home and I couldn’t keep up!

i have already had a few enquiries of people so think I could establish a client base quite quickly

I’m also spending alot of petrol to actually get to my place of work, where I think I could do this more locally

ive also got an idea for products that I think would be a selling point I think I just need to try it. If all else fails back to the drawing board!

do you think I should do a business plan just for peace of mind? Or maybe there is a course I could go on

I was doing holiday let’s for a while then went to domestic with this company. I think that was a good way to do it as in a holiday let if the standard is not upto how it should be then that will be an awful review in the guest book and possibly on the internet. I was doing the laundry aswell but unless you have a press it’s a nightmare

That would be a good starting point. It’s likely that once you’ve got even a small client base, they’ll recommend you to friends and family and you’ll have more enquiries. There’s absolutely no harm in writing a business plan. It sounds like you’ve got a great starting point and I can’t see the risk in you giving it a go. Best of luck xx
