Thank you gift for a headhunter

I've just started in a new role and the headhunter who placed me really went above and beyond throughout the process. I want to send something by way of thanks but champagne/wine just feels so lazy. Any headhunters out there who have received something thoughtful? Or other inspired suggestions?

They are on commission. They didn't go over and beyond because they like you, it's their commission they're after.

New blowpipe?

Actually in this instance I think wine or champagne would be fine. This person is more of an acquaintance, not a friend, so I don't think there can be any expectation that you know them well enough to buy something for their garden/hobby/home/lifestyle etc.

I sent a chocolate hamper when I was headhunted. Got a lovely phone call when it was received - she was really happy! Wine / champagne sounds fine to me. It's a token gift to say thank you. I bet you are ecstatic about your new job even though they are just doing their job :)

A friend is a headhunter, and I remember her telling me about when a candidate sent in cupcakes for the whole office.

she got decent commission as PP said, so isn’t particularly fussed about wine ect. But the office cupcakes were a good way to raise her profile/ show off about the placement.

Not sure how that would work with home working though!

Thanks for the more helpful suggestions. Yes he's made a huge commission but some people do their job and some do it with an extra dose of humanity. This is someone who didn't place me in a previous role but came back to me after that and genuinely went many extra miles.

I've bought him a gift box from Borough Market because sometimes it's nice to recognise the good guys in an ocean of sharks.

I was a headhunter in Investment Banking/ Hedge Funds and regularly received presents from candidates.

Champagne/Wine was popular and always well received, but my favourites were thoughtful "thank you" cards and personal recommendations to peers.

I got the person who offered me a job a box of chocolates, but I'm really not sure it is the done thing anymore.

@LondonMummer
I know you've already made your purchase but I'm thinking to launch a business as a gift finder particularly for the hard to buy or maybe for those with very little time. This is beta test days right now so im asking for exchange of attemtped find for feedback.

If you knew him a bit better than just a name and face and wanted something a bit more personal then if you humour me for a moment I'd be grateful for your time and feedback? As I'm not yet charging for my services, you can keep me in mind if you're impressed/ would come back again. 😉Also then you've made a useful contact when you're stuck on an idea for teacher's present or friend's anniversary!

Would you be up for me giving it a quick go?
