Just curious really now WFH/ remote positions are a bit more established

Do you ever miss the office?
What’s your routines like?
Can you distinguish now between home and work life?

Do you see many other people in a work day?
Can you really see yourself doing this forever?
Do you feel mentally ok with being home all day etc

I will always miss working in an office and do aspire to once move away from this **hole to somewhere that is within commuting distance of London. I've never liked it, but have been doing it for 11 years now!

I work two roles. I'm full time wfh and part time lorry driver. Best of both.

Should add ....

Do you ever miss the office? Not really. I can call my wfh colleagues on Teams if needed and my lorry driving role lets me see my colleagues and customers for my driving job.
What’s your routines like? Much better now Without having to commute daily I save 15hrs daily on the commute and another 5 hrs from reduced work hours.
Can you distinguish now between home and work life? Yes. I have a home office and I can shut the door on it. We don't have work phones as we call each other on teams. My driving job is set hours.
Do you see many other people in a work day? Yes.
Can you really see yourself doing this forever? Yes.
Do you feel mentally ok with being home all day? Yes

I'd love to WFH.

I moved into a management role (from lab work) and don't find the actual work hard but the working environment is extremely noisy and distracting. We also have a big issue with space - lack of it! 40% of our staff could WFH but don't. They have tried and tried to get permission with no luck!

We did actually bring in WFH for a while (only one day a week though) and it was great - I got so much done!! That was due to Covid though and to reduce the number of people in the lab. So there was a lot more productivity - well, from me!

My office is next to a large office with 5 people in. They never shut up! We have to leave our doors open too so I can't block them out. It's very distracting. Also, the noise of others is annoying and I'm sat next to the photocopier which is in constant use throughout the day.

There has always been jealousy between the lab staff - who, obviously, can't work at home - and those who can. So, basically, we have been stopped working the one day from home due to their jealousy. I used to be in the lab myself and can understand their frustration but they also need to look at it from the other side - it's a very noisy working environment and counterproductive. We have a couple of staff, who could work from home, who have a long commute. Both are looking for other jobs! There is no reason why they couldn't WFH 2 days a week.

I, myself, have started to look for a WFH role (even if WFH a couple of days a week). I'd love a remote working role out of London (I'm in the north east though) so if anyone can recommend anything for a microbiologist/public health/quality management (a lot of skills) person then let me know! I also want to move in 4 years (house) into North Yorkshire once my daughter leaves school and goes to university. Remote working would give me that flexibility.

I wish employers would move with times! Being in an office 5 days a week isn't productive - imo!

Wfh with 3 or 4 days a year in the office. I enjoy those days but happy not to have to go in more.

Do I miss the office? No. This job has always been wfh. Previous job had a hellish office and I nearly left after the first week, but then lock down saved me. The job before, yes I miss some of the good things (great team banter, free lunch) but not other things (very overcrowded room).

My routine
6.30 get up, tea and chat to DP, it's fucking amazing to relax and not be rushing about.
7.30 shower, do some small house chores or life admin
8 faff about/relax/read/breakfast
9 start work
Lunchtime, sit in garden, go for walk.
5 usually stop work but once a week will work till about 6.

Best thing is no commute. I may not be doing anything very productive during this extra time, but the time to rest and relax every day is wonderful.

Home/work.
It was hard at first as we lived somewhere very tiny so the living room was my office too. We moved about 15 miles further out and got somewhere much bigger for very little extra, so I now have an office room. Door's shut, work's over.

I don't see anyone face to face but we have Teams chats and lunches.

I intend to do this if possible until I retire in 11 years.

Mentally, it's great for me. Less stress.
