Moving job ahead of a recession

I've just accepted a new job (and have resigned) for a similar role with more salary. It's in the communications industry, and it's quite a significant pay rise, which is why I'm leaving although I'm very happy in my current role. I'm now having a bit of a wobble, because there's been all these forecasts about a looming recession. Has the possibility of being laid off discouraged anyone from making the move?

No. I wouldn't go to a company that was obviously in trouble, although in that case they probably wouldn't be hiring anyway, but otherwise it wouldn't worry me. There's no gain without risk and there's no way I'm just going to sit in a role out of fear.

I trust in myself and my skills; if I end up redundant, I'll find a way forward.

They say last starters will the first leavers. I don't believe in it though. It depends on the job, on the sector and most importantly on the person! It's something that needs to be considered but as your standard of living should as well. A pay rise in this climate is much needed!! Congratulations on your new job!

PS I'm about to move job for a pay rise and better benefits and can't wait.
