AIBU to think I haven't got the job?

I had an NHS interview yesterday and they said they would contact me by yesterday or today whether I was successful or not?

I know these things can take some time but they did say they would contact me 'today or tomorrow'? should I assume I haven't got it? it's making me nervous and I just want it out of my mind so I can carry on with other activities.

Sorry, I can't speak for any other recruiter, but when I say I will contact people, successful or not, then that is what I do. I would never break my promise. If people give up their time then I owe them a response. So if you hadn't heard from me, then it would mean that the decision was a bit harder than I thought, or I had been run over by a bus. So no, I wouldn't assume you haven't been successful until you are told that.

With the NHS assume nothing.
I had an interview followed by a rejection phone call a few days later, followed by another call 4 weeks later to offer me the job. I think I was told their preferred candidate had started & hated the job so left!

People regularly think that they will be able to make the decision quickly but it often turns out to take longer. They may need to check the decision with someone else, they HR rep may be out, they may be struggling to reach a unanimous decision etc. Try to put it to the back or your mind for the weekend.

This was me a year ago, sorry OP. I'll hope differently but be prepared it is not so good when the nhs interviewer/s don't come back to you on the time they give in my take of the nhs.

I attended an interview on the Thursday told I'd hear next day on Friday as the role holder was swiftly leaving like that Friday! - didn't hear a thing until 4 weeks later when an email notification arrived that I hadn't got the job. I did approach HR nearing the first week after interview and just decided from the tone it wasn't going anywhere on hearing 'don't know' from them. (as if they couldn't put me out of my misery! it did later make sense when I made another application so don't let it put of you off altogether)

I was through TRAC jobs and later found out when eventually successful for another and different role in the same hospital which I absolutely did hear about in the post interview time frame given, that the 4 weeks waiting was probably correct to hear as a decline as the offer raised allows for the successful candidates checks to be processed in this time, so hence why sometimes you just don't hear or it's delayed I guess.

No don't assume anything as anything could've caused the delay. It's bad form that they haven't let you know of a potential delay but not unusual. Hope you're successful!

I’m in a similar boat, just over two weeks now since my interview for a reasonably senior role, and nothing. I’ve emailed HR and the hiring manager and had no reply from either - my insights on what that means or what I can assume?

Highly unlikely to be an offer after this long.

have a feeling i haven't got it and they're not gonna tell me to give me feedback but hopefully today I'll get a call. It's only my second NHS interview so I wasn't sure I'd get it
