PAMPERED CHEF

JODIEhavingababy · 18/01/2008 11:10

Hi, I just wanted to share an amazing experience I've just been handed! I REALLY didn't want to go back to work after having DS (I was an Air Stewardess for BA) so a friend got me in touch with someone who does Pampered Chef. I have now 'joined' as a consultant, and my god it's fab! I work my own hours, as much or as little as I like, no targets and average earnings for 1 night is 60 pounds!!!

Anyone interested in finding out more???? I really want to share this with the world coz it's saved my life!

whats pampered chef?

ScienceTeacher · 18/01/2008 21:42

Pampered Chef is a party plan kitchenware company (ie Tupperware +++).

They have nice products, many that you can't find easily on the High Street, but are horrendously expensive.

JingleyJen · 18/01/2008 21:48

All I know about pampered chef is each raffle we hold for the PTA there is a pampered chef box of something there, it is ok but not sure if it is there because someone bought it under obligation and has handed it on to a raffle IYKWIM

expatinscotland · 18/01/2008 21:49

i have a bowl, like 2.5 litres, that has a pour spout.

my sister bought me this about 10 years ago and i have to say, it's one of my most prized possessions.

ditto the pizza stone she bought me from there about 15 years ago, still going strong!

ScienceTeacher · 18/01/2008 21:57

The pizza stones are like 40 squids though.

hertsnessex · 18/01/2008 22:01

my SIL done this - and i bought loads of stuff (its family.....) anyhow i must say the stonware and 2.5ltr jug are great, well worth the money.

cx

Sparkler · 18/01/2008 22:04

Yep very expensive but you pay for what you get. I went to a party a couple of years ago and bought the stonebake lasagne dish. It cost me about £23 but it's lasted well. Assuming I don't drop it - it has plenty of life in it yet.
I'm going to get some more of the set at some point because I think it's well worth the money in the long run.

JingleyJen · 18/01/2008 22:07

it really could be that the lady that does the parties is donating stock..

JODIEhavingababy · 19/01/2008 19:48

Hi guys, thank you for responding!

I know it all does seem a little expensive (thats what I thought when i went to my first show!) But all of it has some sort of guarantee, the knives have a lifetime guarantee and the stoneware has a 3 year guarantee. Even the recipe books have a 1 year guarantee! So you do get what you pay for!

The Pizza stone is 20.50.. not 40.00!!

There's always My Secret Kitchen...

OOh, interesting. What's that?????

Yorky · 22/01/2008 20:09

I love pampered chef - only when DH in good mood though!
Anyone know anyone in Oxon who does it?
More info on secret kitchen please

allgonebellyup · 22/01/2008 20:11

too much money imo

Triggles · 24/01/2008 00:18

I've had tons of Pampered Chef products - absolutely love them. They are a bit more expensive, but they are excellent quality and have a good guarantee. I've thought about possibly becoming a consultant at some point, as heaven knows I've used enough of their products to be very familiar with them, but never have.

fortyplus · 24/01/2008 01:53

I've got the measuring jug/mixing bowl thingy with lid and the ice cream scoop, which really does work.

BUT... I hate home parties - they're just trading off your friends and neighbours. The woman doing the demo gushed so much I wanted to punch her.

I'm sure you're not like that JODIEhavingababy but when you say 'Anyone interested in finding out more????' it sounds as though you want everyone to sign up so you can get your commission.

JODIEhavingababy · 24/01/2008 09:41

FORTY PLUS - I know what you mean, and I cringe when I hear anyone say it, but I genuinely (sp?) believe that doing the job can be brill! You obviously do earn commission off people you 'recruit' but it's not a great deal (at least to start with)!

Triggles - Whereabouts are you? I can give you some more information about becoming a consultant if you like, to see if it would be something you'd like to do..... my e-mail address is [email protected]....

Sorry Yorkie - again contact me with your postcode and I can find someone in your area for you, if you want to.

fortyplus · 24/01/2008 14:30

I think it's quite nice to browse through the stuff and order what you fancy, but there's something wrong about the hostess getting 10% commission.

It puts pressure on people to buy.

That's what I mean about 'trading off your friends and neighbours'. I don't have a problem with the demonstrator earning commission.

If I had a party I'm such a classy bird I'd donate my commission to charity - except that that would put even more pressure on my friends to buy.

No... I don't feel comfortable with it at all.

JODIEhavingababy · 25/01/2008 10:46

I do know what you mean, I've had home parties before, and I don't really think anyone feels obliged to purchase if they don't want to, I know that when I do parties for other people, some people come just to get out of the house and have no urge to buy anything, which is fine...

OP posts:
wannaBe · 25/01/2008 11:05

it's 20% commission rising to 22.5% after x number of shows.

Having said that

my kitchen is practically a shrine to the pampered chef .

I have a friend who is a consultant and I have hosted two shows and so have got lots of items much cheaper than I would if I bought from someone else's show iyswim.

I think the difference between pampered chef and some of the other party plans is that someone actually cooks at your house, so you get an actual proof of how good the products are, plus howsting a pc show is much easier as you don't have to provide nibbles for guests as the consultant cooks - you only have to provide the ingredients.

I have thought of becoming a consultant and am aware of the insentives for joining in January but as I am visually impaired the paperwork would be difficult for me, but otherwise I would love to.

JODIEhavingababy · 28/01/2008 11:38

Yes it is a good commission rate, you also get monthly bonuses too. It's also better than Virgin Vie, or the Body Shop, as you don't have to keep buying the products to keep your kit upto date as everythingyou demonstrate is re-useable!

OP posts:
leedslassy · 28/01/2008 11:42

I was a consultant last year while I stayed at home after having dd2. I made some great money and like you say the hours are great.
The hard bit is getting the bookings. Some people are happy to go to the kitchen shows but not always wanting to book one themselves. make sure you really sell the incentives for booking a show that month.

Put the monthly offer in a photo frame on display at each show and make sure you go to your team meetings as they can offer some great ideas to try and boost the bookings.

I managed to get all my consultants kit and the bags etc really quickly although I don't use them now they take a lot of room in my house.

JODIEhavingababy · 28/01/2008 12:02

I know what you mean, my DH goes mad when new free stuff arrives! But I love it!!!

I don't have a problem with bookings really, I tend to get 1 or 2 from each show, and I try to re-book the host in another 8 months time, which sometimes works, esp if she's had a good show!

leedslassy · 28/01/2008 13:22

wannabe - have you considered applying to access to work for help with funding towards equipment that would help your disability if you are self employed?

It is a jobcentre plus scheme that pays towards equipment etc to help people with disabilities or health conditions who are working.

If you register as self employed you would get 100% of funding towards something like magnifiers etc to help with documents.

MySecretKitchenPhil · 28/01/2008 17:07

Sorry, I've only just got back to the this messageboard. With regards to the question on what My Secret Kitchen is, to put it in a nutshell, Pampered Chef is Kitchen Equipment and My Secret Kitchen is food. Just under a year old, amazing products, lots of recipe ideas at each tasting party and huge gaps in the UK where there are no consultants...
