Pros of non term time job

Am currently looking for a new job and wondered if anyone can tell me the pros of a job which isn't term time. I have been a teacher for the last 15 years so have got used to having the school holidays off. I know being able to take holidays at other times of the year would be an advantage but is there anything else? I have a 4yo dd who is starting reception in September, dp can be flexible with his hours and grandparents have offered childcare in holiday's etc. I have seen a couple of non term time jobs that I am really interested in but not sure whether to hold out for something term time. Thanks

You can book your leave to suit you, do things when they are cheaper.
You can book days off to see your days little sports days, plays etc
You can book a day off when everyone else is at work / school and luxuriate in it.
You won't be looking after children 365 days a year, either yours or other people's.

It's easier to book time off when you need it. School plays, dentists, cheaper spa deals etc.

But if you've got school aged DC, then in my opinion working term time only is priceless.

One big plus is being able to arrange time off work so you can attend school plays, assemblies, sports days etc. I missed so much when my eldest was starting school. By the time my youngest was starting nursery/ school my job had changed so I could arrange days off during the week. Also being able to take them to school and pick them up sometimes is lovely.

I don't think it's that advantageous with a school age child because you'll end up taking your holidays in school holiday time anyway. And you get much less time off.

Perhaps for a better paying or more enjoyable job though.

But, if you're in teaching it won't be too difficult to return, if you find the new job doesn't suit.

You can take leave to cover your child's sickness without feeling like you are letting anyone down.
