Anyone NOT received an unconditional offer?

Got a conditional offer (NHS) weeks ago, filled out all forms and sent all required documents. Contacted them today to get update on progress, to be told that my application has been put on hold (??!!) and someone will call me back once they found out what happened, but as it usually happens no one did. I'm now shitting myself that I don't have a job anymore!

I don't have any details of my line manager, it's a very bureaucratic centralised process. I'll obviously call them again tomorrow, but I'm so stressed out at the moment. I declined another good offer to accept this one.

As not to drip feed, my previous manager has provided a reference, no issues there, I don't have any criminal convictions, and tbh I'm not even sure they've requested it as they haven't asked for things like my previous names/addresses...

I was wondering if anyone's been in similar situation...

Is the job you were offered still available or gone down a deep rabbit hole never to be seen. I would call tomorrow and ask again

No, it's a very big team, my post isn't unique. The person on the phone seemed surprised why I haven't received my final offer yet.

Any issues with sickness? Try not to worry. It could be something simple, was it on trac or NHS jobs? You should be able too see what’s gone through and the status on both of those.

No issues with sickness. I'm in NI, so system is a bit different.

Oops, name change fail!

I’m sure it’s alright then, probably just someone in the chain is off that’s all and something has been held up so it’s on hold.

Nhs takes months to sort out. We have just had a band 4 retract her acceptance as she was sick of waiting to start as it had gone on for 4 months already.

GreenAcorn · 20/07/2022 21:34

4 months 😱

I got promoted from band 4 to 5 in the same department and it took 3.5 months to start! Ridiculous.

NHS job here.

Applied December.

Interview date sent march for the next day!

Did it whilst on holiday, myself with three kids, online. Offered me it there. Nursing auxiliary post, nights.

Heard not a word, emailed, phoned, nothing.

End of may a phone call from withheld number, ignored it. Again, answered, this is ward x, you were supposed to start tonight.....

Explained I had not heard a thing, she agreed to postpone to next night, sorted childcare, went in. Where's your course certificates? Where's your uniform? Where's your disclosure? (Which I have but for other voluntary groups)

So that was end of may, went home, would email next day, have chased weekly, still waiting.

I got a conditional offer and all my references have been sent. I have a lot of sicknesses however, it was COVID and the other one was work-related stress from the manager not work-related. When I contacted the manager she said she need to speak to someone higher from HR. Any one has been through this? Can they decline this offer?
