Becoming some sort of SQL administrator

Hi all,

I’ll try and be brief. Basically I’m mid 30s and have a FdSc in software and IT. I’ve had a good career in marketing but due to maternity leave etc - I’ve have a few gaps on my CV and I’m struggling to find employment.

Feedback suggests that there is an abundance of younger applicants with no CV gaps. ☹️ And employers are worried that I’m not up to date with modern marketing. My gap was 2013-2016 and 2018-2020 and again from March 2022 (redundancy)

Anyway! I’ve applied for a ridiculous amount of jobs & my “Applied” folder in Indeed is depressing!

I in the SW so there isn’t much to choose from. Since my background is software the only thing that actually excites me is SQL Administrator type roles…

Does anyone know how I can train in this? I usually code C++ etc. What courses can I do?

Thanks :)

Have you looked at returnships? Though they may not be available where you are.

Most DBAs I know gained the skills in house, with work paying for training, but most DBAs I know are in their 40s and 50s.
