Warning a colleague about a complaint?

I know that a colleague has put a formal complaint in about another colleague. I'm really torn as I feel I should warn them. Would you?

Nope, stay well out of it. If you have something to raise as a witness speak to HR/your line manager but otherwise it is nothing to do with you.

What difference would it make if you told them? At best, it's give them more time to fret. At worst it would start stir up conflict and gossip. And you'd be (rightly) accused of breaching a confidence and look untrustworthy.

Personally if colleague who was been complained about was a friend, I would absolutely tell them. Loyalty and all.

I agree with others, stay out of it .
If you get drawn in it could messy.

The only thing I would do it if you have absolutely unrefutable proof / evidence that will corroborate or help your colleague. Then you could pass it on to HR , but even then you could get in deeper than you want to.

How do you know about the complaint then? If you've seen the paperwork as part of your job then no, you shouldn't say anything. But I think you've been speaking to someone about it.

I know as the other colleague told me during a conversation as they were upset. I'm not involved, they just said it.
