Haven't been paid statutory sick pay

I've used up my employer's sick pay and was told by my manager that I've now moved onto statutory sick pay. However, this month's pay day has come and gone and I haven't had any kind of payment into my bank - is it normal for statutory sick pay to not arrive 'on time' and for there to be a delay?

There shouldn't be - the employer pays it. Are you sure that you are entitled to it? Have you asked them why it hasn't been paid? How much company sick pay have you had?

How much contractual sick pay did you use?

Oops name change fail.

You need to speak to your employer, its them that pays it.

Is your sick note still in date?

You need to contact payroll and ask why it hasn't been paid. Do you usually earn at least £123 per week?

Is it the waiting days? If it’s not at or over 4 consecutive days you don’t get any SSP. So if you had one, two or three days off you would have no pay as you don’t qualify.

Comefromaway · 29/06/2022 13:11

OP has been off sick for 20 days so waiting days are well over and done with.

derealiz · 29/06/2022 13:43

Yes, my sick note is in date and was sent to my manager and HR on time. I've been in regular contact with HR so they would have mentioned if anything was amiss.

In which case get onto them now and ask why you have not been paid and what they are going to do about it.

Is payroll processed in house?

It's unreal the amount of clients that forget to send sick lines, starter/leaver forms, DEOs etc when payroll is outsourced - then they expect the provider to drop everything & fix it when an employee raises the issue with no thought to the fact it's their own fault for not sending the information & payroll people aren't sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting on their email/phone call.

If this was my client and payroll had been finalised & closed for the month at this late stage I'd have to say it wouldn't be processed until the next run - it would then be up to the employer to pay an advance & recoup that in the next run.

If they don’t pay SSP they must issue you with an SSP1 explaining why they aren’t paying it. Email payroll/HR, point out not paid SSP so please can they provide SSP1 form.
