Hi all,
Apologies in advance for longe message and I hope I explain correctly. I am currently a TA, however have secured a new position out of education and I am just waiting on relevant checks to come back etc.

I have to give 4 weeks notice (my employer is aware I am leaving but I’m waiting for my checks to come back to officially hand in my notice)

I know I will be there until the summer holidays as there are only 5 weeks left and even if my checks come back tomorrow, I may as well see out the term. However my question is about pay over the summer. My wage is pro-rata over 12 months so technically the money I get paid over the summer is for work already completed (at least that is how I’ve understood it). So if I handed my notice in to finish July 31st, would I get paid a larger salary to include the wage I wouldn’t get at the end of August as technically this would be for work already completed, or if not shall I hang on and hand my notice in to finish 31st August so I receive that pay?

My only concern with that is that I should be able to start my new job then so I don’t want to be waiting even longer to start, but I suppose I could gain permission from my current employer to start working while seeing out my notice as I will be on holiday anyway?

Hope that makes sense

You give 4 plus weeks notice - I would say your intentions to leave on 31of august - and you don’t need permission to work over the summer.

It says in my contract I have to ask permission to work at another job and technically I would be so would I not have to ask permission?
