Notice period during an extended probation

In my current job, my initial 3 month probation required a 1 week notice to leave. My probation was extended for another 3 months. I've been working there for 5 months.

My contract says - If you wish to terminate your employment with the Company after after the duration of your probationary
period, you are required to give a minimum of one month’s notice, in writing to your manager.

Am I right in thinking as I am in still in a probation I only have to give 1 weeks notice?

Yes.

Looks correct to me. And they are hardly going to hold you for longer if you have had your probationary period extended

One week under a year

Not true. In the first instance your notice is one week FOREVER no matter how long you work somewhere, UNLESS the contract says otherwise. In this case it does say otherwise - notice from the employee increases after probation. It is only the employers notice to the employee that increases with length of service.

Not necessarily, it is what the contract says (so long as it is no worse than statutory notice periods). But here, as OP is still in a probationary period, it is one week per the contract.

Depends on the employer- some places are really struggling for staff so might need bums on seats even if they’re not a great performer.

But yes OP- it’s a week if you’re still in your probationary period.

Thanks just wanted to check I had read it right.

I think my current job want to keep me and my line manager even said that at the 3 month point but she still extended my probation. But I have another job offer and I'm hoping a quick start will help negotiations with the higher salary I've asked for as I know they want someone quick.
