Do you often notice that people just do not like you without a reason but prefer another person over you?

I find some people so fickle that I’m just left wondering what I’ve actually done.

Im a hard worker am friendly and helpful but feel as if certain people just don’t like me.

Has anyone else felt this way?
Please be kind I’ve had a rough day.

Sending you a virtual hug EveryonWelcome I am my office 'odd bod', like you I will help and talk to anyone, but just never feel like I fit. I am definitely not part of the favoured clique. I feel almost tolerated at best.

Smartsub · 25/05/2022 19:07

Don't most people feeling they don't quite fit in? I think actually, the more confident they appear, the more they feel it.

Aghh · 25/05/2022 20:36

Yes it’s called cliquey.

People are we weird.

Hope you have a better day tomorrow, I bet you’re awesome x

I felt like this today and have several times before.
I think in my case I can be opinionated and other times younger people just jel a bit more.
Try not to over think it.

This can just be internal - but I do think it’s a thing.

People who are so obvious with their transferable affections aren’t your friends. I find people tend to show that they like me - I am nice but I am outspoken and loud. People don’t want to be on the wrong side of me and I see that some people are not nice to the quiet and kind but are then nice to me. It doesn’t matter which side you see these people from they are arseholes. I worked in an office where a woman would leave sweets on desks - not on everyone’s desk though! You had to be popular with her which was really unkind to the quiet woman on the end desk who worked part time. How to make people feel excluded. Cow bag of a woman.

whatisforteamum · 05/06/2022 22:56

CaveyDavey I had a boss who acknowledged everyone's birthdays on the Rota except mine.
Everyone else got cake or presents except me.
I was the only woman and quite glad when he left.
Mind games have no place in the workplace.

Caveydavey · 05/06/2022 23:01

That is just horrid. What an arse. There is no need - even if some people don’t care others will and it’s a low bar not to be damaged by work.

easyday · 05/06/2022 23:03

Yes not everyone had to like you and I'm sure you like some people more than others. Do you mean it's affecting your work? If there is a hostile environment or you are being singled out that's another issue entirely.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 05/06/2022 23:08

Yes I have often felt like this in an office and the worst thing is I try too hard with the wrong people.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 06/06/2022 15:02

I had this in my last company. There were a group of PAs/EAs and they all seemed quite cliquey. We all WFH so I never got to interact with them all apart from one day last autumn.

The main EA (head of us all) was pleasant enough but I always felt she didn't like me and possibly another one of us. When I was going through a failed probation I had the fact she didn't like certain of us or had favourites confirmed to me by someone else.

HikingforScenery · 06/06/2022 21:24

Is that not the same for everyone? As in you will never be liked by 100% of the people you work with, etc?
if those people don’t have the power over your work performance, I’d just ignore them.
