Interview feedback/outcome

I interviewed last Monday for a position, and was told they were interviewing up until weds. I then had an email late thus eve to apologise for their delay in making a decision and to ask for a phone call Monday to discuss the outcome as the hiring manager does not work Fridays.

I definitely think I didn't get the job as it didn't go great, but finding it a little odd they didn't just say in the email that I had been unsuccessful - is this normal practice? It's been playing on my mind all weekend and slightly dreading the phone call in the am!

If they want to talk to you it sounds positive. Most rejections are done via email or not at All

@Waferbiscuit that's been my experience usually that it has been an email rejection. Well we will see tomorrow I guess but I really didn't think it went very well at all and would be v shocked to be offered the job!

It's inexperience of the interviewer.

Very recently in the last car crash - an interview on the Wednesday which was meant to be face 2 face turned into a 10 minute video link which kept breaking - with this messing about of when we can speak Friday and like you encounter unable to explain anything by email - turns out I was offered the job but really I couldn't work out whether I was second choice by these actions or the interviewer/hirer was one of them in the first and only roles as it later turned out and pretty much had no idea on recruitment handling. turns out their first and only job since college...

The job specialism I was interviewed for only existed part time (was sad news to me) as I found out only on starting and the illusion created of spending an hour an hour per week (with someone else totally begrudging this situation and that that they were getting an assistant against their will) in creating certificates really was the other half a week job to a part time credit controller. By heck I wish I'd gone with a full month's notice and carried on looking.

(No other company has truly messed about.) I mean the paperwork was ready on first day but I couldn't see myself happy and when I bailed I'm pretty sure they were not that bothered, which begged why their behaviour in first place. But Mumsnet encourages people not accept jobs not being clear when payday is, working hours or what the job is doing.
