Red flag on job offer?

Hi,

I've got a job offer for a role I'm really not sure about having had an interview and moreso after doing a part day trial which I really think wasn't a great insight, during which I ended up doing different duties to what was advertised being told they couldn't show me the advertised duties as it would be to complex in the 6 hours I spent on trial. (I also don't like the journey so it's not sitting easy with me but weirdly they say they do have employees from my home town do such a journey)

The paperwork has come through which looks like a summary then a contract, but they are really not being so clear - I'm expected to accept 39 hours plus some weekend working but the paperwork is rather vague and won't commit to work day timing. Quoting "Working hours: Standard hours Monday – Friday 39.75 per week, or as needed for fulfilment of the role (including staggered start/finish times and weekends on a rota basis or as required by the company)"

Also they seemed to miss out the most biggest detail and that is when payday is.

It was a bit odd, the building was actually locked during a working day when I went for the trial so I'm a little baffled they want weekend working for a verbal advised 2-3 hours/"this isn't going to take over your weekend line" which they say they pay extra for before receiving the summary - but again this is simply not noted on the summary received and for such a little workday I'm beginning to wonder if it shall be worth the travel as it isn't a local company.

They also it seems want references before fully committing (which I get is most sensible) and I wonder if they are being clever sending a 'summary' - before the issue of a contact?

Are you already working and do you need this job?
If you need the job then I suggest giving it a go

I wouldn't expect to know when payday was on accepting a job.

The mon-fri 9-5, plus stuff as management deems necessary is a standard clause. However, it an be used reasonably or can be abused.

Do you need the job?

Thanks all, I could really do with a job but mindful it has to be the right one and I'd kind of messed up anyway.🙁

I was told the work trial was paid, no attempts made to pay me any other way, apart from the company asking for my bank details so everything is a bit back to front anyway (which is why I was kind of expecting to know when payday does fall and I hadn't been formally told when to expect payment) but I imagine I'd lose that anyhow if I was to turn the offer down.
