Salary offered less than advertised

I received a job offer that was about £400 less than the advertised figure (a set salary).

Is it worth kicking up a fuss? It is a more senior role than I hold now, and a more interesting job. It's also an increase on what I currently receive. However, I would get less holiday and, I am assuming, a less comfortable maternity benefit.

£400 less per annum?

rubyslippers · 13/05/2022 16:00

£400 less per year or month

You kick up a fuss if you want the extra money to take the job

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/05/2022 16:00

This actually happened to a friend of mine, she challenged it and they honoured the original advertised salary. I would query it.

Ladyofthepeonies · 13/05/2022 16:01

Ask, I did when the same happened and they honoured it and admitted they were just seeing if I’d accept it.

Defo check with them!

Of course you should raise it. Probably just a mistake somewhere along the lines. Be confident, you're in a senior role after all Smile

Junebughustle · 13/05/2022 16:05

Less per annum. I have queried it but wondered it it was common to 'round up'!

I would query it.... they've offered you the job obviously think you can do it.. you can do it....why sell yourself short?
I would just reply with a short note saying just want to check there's not a typo this role was advertised at x.

Especially if the ts n cs are worse....

AgnesNaismith · 13/05/2022 16:07

Always check, always negotiate up. The only time you get to set your own salary is when you first join a company.

Kat1953 · 13/05/2022 16:14

I would challenge it because otherwise if you take the job they will believe they can treat you anyway they like and you'll just roll over.

Junebughustle · 13/05/2022 16:37

Thanks all! I feel better for having challenged it now.
