Please summarise all positions held over the last 10 years, since completing your full time education, starting with your most recent positions.

Would you leave this blank if you had been in your current job for more than 10 years? I was confident this was what it meant, then wondered if it was either last 10 years or since leaving full time education.

Surely it's a summary of what you've been doing for the last ten years - whether that's been the same job / company or a variety of roles? That's how I read it anyway, so I wouldn't be leaving it blank.

I wouldn't generally be leaving anything blank. Someone might be given the summary to read to decide whether your cv is included in the next round. Might not be fair but every HR function I know at the moment is overwhelmed by applications so they look to weed out any for any reason that stands up to scrutiny

summarise all positions held over the last 10 years - give edited highlights / an overview of what you have been doing for the last ten years

since completing your full time education - if those last ten years include full time education, you can skip anything about the full time education bit

starting with your most recent positions we are most interested in the more recent positions

If you have been in the same role all that time just include it. I'd use the 'summarise' rather than 'list' as an opportunity to show your progression within that role. Maybe doing larger /more responsibly projects or more autonomy to make decisions or whatever else has changed in that time

Responding to applications is a game that often shows no relation to doing the job. It's a pity but that is how it is.

Sorry about the crossing out - I didn't intend that please ignore it and read it like the rest.

Good luck

I think they missed a word. It will be your most recent 10 years OR since finishing education if shorter.

Experience more than 10 years ago of little use.

If you have been in 1 job for eleven years put that.

However you can split it if you had different roles in one company

Tee20x · 08/05/2022 17:42

Same as PP. Summary of what you've been doing for the last 10 years so wouldn't leave blank. Would just say I have been in such and such position at x since y and describe.

hugoagogo · 08/05/2022 17:52

Ok great, that's useful I didn't feel comfortable leaving it blank.
Although I have worked in pretty much the same job for more than 10 years there have been changes( traumatic restructures)
I shall provide a summary and try not to totally rehash my 'current employment'Smile

What do you think the HR person will think if it's blank??
