Last day - what to expect?

So it's my last day at work today! I left on mat leave after an horrific time at work - a colleague lying to management to get me in trouble. She has form for this with multiple staff, but management always believe her. Anyway, I haven't heard from management since I handed my notice in - what should happen today? I am owed holiday due to mat leave. I start a
new job next week
Thanks !

Have you got a payroll or hr dept whocan tell you how much holiday pay you have accrued, you will need a P45 and final pay. Have management acknowledged your resignation.

JustKeepSw1mming · 06/05/2022 13:16

No it's a small business with outsourced (and minimal) HR. Yes resignation was accepted. I am worried they are going to short change me on holidays!

I would have expected all that to be set out when they accepted your resignation?

JustKeepSw1mming · 06/05/2022 13:23

No nothing was mentioned at that point. I gave the date I would like to leave which they requested so they could it all worked out, and I have heard nothing since

If I were you I would of arranged the holiday you're owed to finish earlier, then there's a clean break away when you leave, otherwise you'll
Now be chasing it in your own time. Sorry that's not helpful.

Is there a manager you can speak to

JustKeepSw1mming · 06/05/2022 13:28

I am on mat leave, so I thought that they would have worked it all out and let me know. Either way, I'm chasing on my own time. I have been there 7 years so I am not familiar with the process! I will contact the business owner if I haven't heard anything in the next couple of hours. Thanks for help everyone!

Good luck in your new job and congrats.

thinkfast · 06/05/2022 13:37

If contact them today OP - before they issue your p45. Otherwise you'll be chasing them for holiday pay after they've taken you off the payroll

missbipolar · 06/05/2022 13:38

You probably won't get paid your holidays until the usual payday I don't expect anything will happen today

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 06/05/2022 13:40

Congrats on new job! I would have spect that on your next pay date (old company) you will receive whatever outstanding monies are owed - holiday etc. p45 sent at the same time, probably through the post and a p60 at the end of this financial year, probably by email. Or at least that’s been my experience.

JustKeepSw1mming · 06/05/2022 13:42

Ah OK, so not till the end of the month then? That's not so helpful re nursery fees!!! I think I will email anyway to confirm...

And thanks, I am really nervous about starting again!!! I feel like I need coaching or something to help with the anxiety!

I can only say what my experience is! Different companies may finalise pay for leavers earlier. An email to your line manager or HR or even payroll should give you an answer. Fwiw have you checked your contract? Sometimes it states how the final payment will be made - wether on the normal pay date or earlier.
Anyway, good luck, you will be fabulous in your new job!

I agree definitely send an email today advising last day and specifically asking for confirmation holiday pay will be included in final salary. If you definitely know how many days I would add that in. Ideally work out how much holiday you are due. People on here can help.

if they don’t pay it and they issue P45 then send a letter before action with 14 days to pay. This way you can then go to small claims court.
