Holiday/annual leave straight after sick note finishes - advice please

I have been signed off work with stress, straight after my sick note ends I have annual leave booked for a holiday.

When I handed in my sick note my manager told me they would hear from me when the sick note ended, I then said I also had annual leave booked and they said ok.

Do I contact them on the last day of my sick note to update them and remind them I'm on annual leave that next week and would be back the week after? Or just contact them on the Monday morning after my annual leave?

Do you think it's ok to still go on holiday shortly after being signed off sick or does it look bad?

Others may disagree but yes I personally think it doesn't look great, depending upon what you have booked for AL- relaxing at home=fine. Jetting off to Spain and posting pics all over Facebook = asking for trouble.

It's a city break abroad, I have had it booked for months. I don't use social media so wouldn't post anything about it, but those I'm with will likely post

I don't know the details of the reason for your sick leave but surely your employer will think that if you're well enough to explore a city you are well enough to attend work?

At my work, no-one would turn a hair at you being off sick with stress and then taking prebooked leave for a prebooked holiday (that well known stress reliever..).

You've already reminded your manager. I think it would be courteous to contact them again at the end of the week.

I'd ring as the sick note ends, and remind the about the leave. Assuming you are fit to return to work at the end of the note.
Don't feel guilty. It's the way the dates have fallen.

I'd assume here that she would have gone back as it's the end of the note, but isn't as she has annual leave in, so will return once the Al Is done.

As a courtesy , remind yr manager. Also remind him of return date.
You are entitled to sick leave & you are entitled to take the leave.

Don’t worry & have a lovely time.
In my workplace it happened sometimes & nobody was ever bothered. We had lovely managers & kind colleagues.

From an employment point of view, just remind and go. From a workplace POV it would depend on the employee. In my office there are work-shy people who skive when they're there and avoid work entirely for any reason possible. And then there's those who are great, work hard, and when they need time off, everyone is happy for them.

I'm assuming you're the second or you wouldn't be worrying!

It's absolutely OK to still go.

All I would do is message via email so that they know from the day after your last sick leave, that you're now fit for work.

But if there's any possibility you'd not be fit for work post holiday, say it's ongoing, then I'd be sick throughout as you can still go on holiday and that leave will be available to then be taken at another time when fit. And this would be better to have one episode of sickness rather than multiple.

Whats your policy? If it was me I would message my manager and say I'm fit to return and will be taking my leave as planned...no one would bat an eyelid...I'm nhs
