I am in the process of reviewing my CV after a period of something like six years and looking around it seems everything has changed. I wondered if anyone can advise on best practice/ tips in stating my work/ education history:
The university I attended is now known by another completely diufferent name following a merger: should I use the new name or stick with what it was as in the unlikley event they want to see a certificate this is what it will show.
Similarly three or four of the companies and charities I worked for have changed names/ merged - should I put the the name down as when I was employed or the one it is currently known as? Putting (now known as x) after every entry takes up space and looks slightly suspicious but equally someone in my field would likely know that the current name was only brought in recently so it may raise suspicions
In one case the charity I worked for was very specialist and well regarded in its field but wasnt able to get funding. It was bailed out by another much larger organisatuion which didnt really have the reputation or work in the specialist area and has effectuively shut down that area of work so recruiters may dismiss my experience as irrelevant.
Do you think I really need my school GCSE and A level results? I left school in 1993 so have almost 30 years work - will they care about my results?
And does anyone have an elegant line to explain a period of childcare following redundancy? I was made redundant in June and got a new job the following January - I was looking for work in theory but primarily looking after the children and sorting out the house after we had moved - how can I summarise this to give a good impression and not make them look at the gap in my CV
Any advice gratefully received!
