Advert for job that has popped up but has been advertised a few times in recent past.

A local company have a job advertised which my family think it is good company to get into -

Only thing is they've advertised a few times within the space of the last 12 months.

It is absolutely made clear as a non-remote role - but to my mind is a little patchy on working hours saying "looking for someone to work 3 to 4 days a week, one of these days must include xyz day of week for sure. We are also willing to consider applicants who are looking for full time hours." would this be why it is keeping people away? Could you be direct and ask them why they would consider both part and full-time? (I'm just thinking possibly they are saying they aren't a company always busy? I must admit I'm tempted by not having to work 5 days a week)

Then there is this part which makes me wonder if they are holding out for a special kind of person but not really finding them as it were but it's weird when they say training available - "Don’t worry if you do not have specific admin or sales experience, we are enthusiastic about what we do and will be happy to teach you."

I did say to Dad perhaps the non-remote is keeping people away and that is why they just find themselves on a loop of advertising or could it be whoever they appoint keeps withdrawing or they don't find anyone they think really fits?

Good to hear any opinions.

It depends. They may have advertised a few times because the company are growing and they need more people.

However, if that isn't the case then I wouldn't bother applying. Clearly something is off about the company. At one of my previous jobs, we kept advertising for the same role as no one wanted to do it (plus the company has a very niche atmosphere shall we say....) so every new starter left within a few weeks/months.

They may be a bit slow on decision making, I'm seeing quite a few employers at the moment wringing their hands because they still think they have the luxury of interview, second interview, take a few days to consider before offering, only to find that their best candidates are getting snaffled by other employers in the meantime.

I've also had a role in the past that I advertised an interviewed for, and the candidate dropped out the day before starting. Advertised again and only got three half decent candidates, none quite right, advertised again and finally got the right person.

I've advertised roles only to have the funding withdrawn by senior management or donors. I've applied for roles that turned out to be a case of the company interviewing for because they were considering creating the role rather than because it was a vacancy they HAD to fill.

If you're interested in the role though, stick in an application and ask why the role has been hard to recruit to when you get to the 'do you have any questions for us' bit.

Surely all that means is they could hire one person full-time if the right candidate came
along, otherwise two (or more) part timers
could be considered as long as certain times/days are always covered?

That's how it reads to me anyway Smile

As to why they're constantly re-advertising - it could be that they're really busy and are expanding the role, or that they've had a run of bad lack, or they're just a rubbish company to work for.

But I wouldn't necessarily assume the latter. I know a friend who runs a business and advertises in the way you describe - they're just crazy busy and need more help than ever!

You're reading too much into it. It's a candidates market at the moment. Not enough people for jobs! The company is keeping the working conditions broad to attract as many people as possible. I'd apply and see what happens.

Thank you so much all 🤗this is a really great community.

I applied and now have a telephone interview arranged so it's a firm with a few steps by sounds of it.
